A couple combined their love of fitness with a desire to make a difference, and raised £1,300 for charity by completing a series of challenges.

Chris Rowsell, who is one of the site managers for Bauvill working on the emergency department expansion at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, and partner Megan Little, took on two half marathons, a 10km run, a 50km in a month challenge, and a skydive. The money raised will go towards the 3 Wishes Project, funded by East Kent Hospitals Charity, as well as Pilgrims Hospices.

The 3 Wishes Project grants ‘wishes’ to patients at the end of their lives, giving people the chance to reflect on their lives and identify what matters most to them; whether spending precious time with loved ones or creating meaningful moments and memories in those last hours and days.

It is funded entirely by donations to East Kent Hospitals Charity, including from Bauvill who have chosen it as their charity of the year.

Chris, 38, from Maidstone, said: “I first heard about the project when I attended a charity dinner organised by Bauvill and I was so impressed with the impact it has on patients and their families.

“Megan and I love running and had already raised money for a different charity so we decided to do our bit to support the 3 Wishes Project.

“We had a great time completing the challenges and it was a real honour to be able to present the proceeds to the charity.

“I know the staff will put it to good use supporting patients and their families at the end of their lives.”

The events including the Kent spring half marathon, Bewl Water 10km run, and Mount Ephraim half marathon.

Chris and Megan are hoping to raise more money to support the 3 Wishes Project next year.
