The fellowship is funded by East Kent Hospitals Charity and sponsored by our chief nurse and midwifery officer Sarah Hayes, and is helping to build the next generation of leaders in nursing, midwifery and the allied health professions.

The Fellows are released from clinical duties one day a week for a year for professional development, and will also deliver an improvement project.

Minu Mary Paul is a specialist screening practitioner with the bowel cancer screening programme at K&C.

She said: “The CNMO fellowship has significantly enhanced my leadership skills.

The fellowship program provided numerous opportunities for networking and professional connections.

“As an internationally trained nurse, each step of my career advancement reflects the dedication and hard work I've put in.

“I made the most of every opportunity, and overcame challenges, and I have received invaluable support of my colleagues and my family along the way.”

Minu initially decided to train as a nurse because of the job stability it offered, but soon realised there were many other benefits.

She said: “As a student nurse, I saw a myriad of opportunity to make meaningful impact on others' lives. For me, the job satisfaction that I receive when caring for people is one of the most rewarding aspect of nursing.

“I hope to utilise the skills I gained through the programme for continuous improvement in patient care while expanding my network and collaborations.”
