The orthoptic team at K&C worked with play specialist Ailish Ali, who is based on Padua ward at WHH, after noticing the area was looking tired.
East Kent Hospitals Charity funded new toys based on Ailish’s advice, and she also found a plane busy board to kickstart the new look.
Head orthoptist Charlotte Swoffer said: “The team and all our patients would like to say a big thank you to the people who helped us make improvements to our waiting area.
“Our toys have gradually gone missing, been broken or were becoming difficult to keep clean so we desperately needed to make some changes.
“Children attending our clinics often have to see multiple clinicians and wait long periods for eye drops to work so this area can get very busy.
“Ailish was great at offering advice on the types of toys we should include in our updated play area.
“A massive thank you goes to East Kent Hospitals Charity for supplying us with new toys. The play kitchen and the large trucks have been the favourites so far.
“We have loved the responses from the children who attend regularly. Parents have to promise children can play after their appointments now just to convince them to leave the waiting area.”
Well done to everyone involved!
