Please join us in saying a huge thank you to Tim Johnston and everyone who has donated to his charity football match family fun day for Rainbow Ward!

Tim set out to raise £1500 for our paediatric ward in the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate but has so far raised more than £6,000.

Tim enlisted the help of Rainbow Ward play leader Terri Shaw, and play specialist Chelsea Keeling, and together they went on a massive shopping spree at Smyth’s Toys spending more than £3,800 on toys for the ward.

They immediately brought all of the toys to the ward thanks to John from Hills Professional Cleaning and his van.

Tim said: “I am so grateful of all the local people and businesses of Thanet who have donated. £6,000 is so overwhelming. Thank you. Thanet has again proved to be an amazing community and I am proud to be a part of it.

The charity football match and family fun day will be held at Ramsgate Football Club this Sunday, 9 July between noon and 6pm. It’s open to all and free to attend.

Dee Neligan, charity manager at East Kent Hospitals Charity said: “We’re so grateful, this donation is going to make a huge difference to children and families staying in our hospital.

“We’ll be at the charity match this Sunday collecting donations, please stop by if you can, there will be something for everyone and the proceeds go directly to the Rainbow Ward.”
