East Kent Hospitals Charity’s Tiny Toes campaign supports the Special Care Bay Unit (SCBU) at the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.
The campaign has enabled the charity to commit funding towards of almost £80,00 towards projects to help the babies, families and staff in the units’ care - and now waste giant CSG has chipped in with £1,000.
Richard Weston, Regional Business Manager South East at CSG, visited the Ashford hospital recently to present the donation.
He said: “We are thrilled to make this donation through our Community Chest programme, which supports good causes close to our bases around the country.
“Tiny Toes was put forward by our team based in Aylesford and it is a very worthy cause. It was a real privilege to visit the hospital and to see the tremendous work they do caring for babies who need extra support.”
CSG helps households and organisations by offering a complete variety of services ranging from waste collection through to treatment, recovery and disposal of countless waste streams.
Its Aylesford facility, on Mills Road, specialises in disposal and recovery of hazardous waste, including oils, acids, fuels and sludges.
Dee Neligan, Head of Charity at East Kent Hospitals Charity, said: “We are very grateful to CSG for their fantastic support. We are always delighted when local businesses show us their support.
“Our units are specially designed and equipped to care for poorly new-born babies. The NICU is a specialist intensive care unit with 25 cots, while the SCBU has 14 cots in total, including two high dependency.
“Thanks to our amazing communities, we have been able to commit funding to numerous projects in recent years, such as refurbishment of parent accommodation, developmental aids for the babies on the unit, enhanced training for staff, and of course, providing Christmas stockings for the families, over the festive period.”
